چکیده

The cosmic X-ray background (XRB) is largely due to accretion onto supermassive black holes integrated over cosmic time. Thus, extragalactic X-ray surveys offer the potential to contribute substantially to our understanding of the physics of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) as well as the evolution of the AGN population. Such surveys have dramatically advanced over the past four years, largely due to the flood of data from the Chandra X-ray Observatory (hereafter Chandra) and the X-ray Multi-Mirror Mission-Newton (hereafter XMM-Newton). The superb X-ray mirrors and charge-coupled device (CCD) detectors on these observatories provide

The primary objective of the study of unidentified EGRET sources with INTEGRAL is to locate with a few arcminute accuracy the hard X-ray / soft γ-ray counterparts within the EGRET error circle or to determine upper limits on their emission in the INTEGRAL energy range. The INTEGRAL Galactic Plane Scan (GPS) and Galactic Centre Deep Exposure (GCDE) data have been analysed and cross–correlated wi...

A recent analysis of COMPTEL data has revealed the existence of an unidentified and variable gammaray source at MeV energies in the galactic plane (Zhang et al. 2002). We discuss the possibility that such a source can be produced in the accreting neutron star system 2S 1417-624 through the bombardment of the accretion disk by relativistic protons accelerated in the magnetosphere by the ChengRud...

We investigate two important questions about the use of the nonextensive thermo-statistics (NETS) formalism in the context of nonlinear galaxy clustering in the Universe. Firstly, we define a quantitative criterion for justifying nonextensivity at different physical scales. Then, we discuss the physics behind the ansatz of the entropic parameter q(r). Our results suggest the approximate range w...
